The color drained from his face before he even reached the second page. Funny enough, she had a story that sounded almost identical to mine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1038\" data-end=\"1138\">My dad pushed his chair back slightly, eyes locked on Liv like he was seeing her for the first time.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1140\" data-end=\"1176\">\u201cYou lied to me?\u201d he asked, quietly.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1178\" data-end=\"1271\">Liv stood up abruptly. \u201cThis is ridiculous. You\u2019re going to believe this over your own wife?\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1273\" data-end=\"1420\">I slid one more paper across the table. \u201cBank records. Transfers from her last husband\u2019s account to hers\u2014two weeks before he filed for bankruptcy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1422\" data-end=\"1457\">Now there was no smirk. Just panic.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1459\" data-end=\"1565\">My dad didn\u2019t yell. Didn\u2019t argue. Out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1621\" data-end=\"1663\">For once, she didn\u2019t have anything to say.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1665\" data-end=\"1771\">She grabbed her bag and left without another word, the door slamming behind her echoing through the house.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1773\" data-end=\"1793\">The room went quiet.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1795\" data-end=\"1906\">My dad sat there for a long time, staring at the papers in his hands.
